“I jor fist es chambre son pere
Une estole et I amiet pere
De soie et d’or molt soutilment,
Si i fait ententevement
Mainte croisette et mainte estoile
Et dist ceste chanchon a toile”

“I made in his father’s chamber
A stole, and I made my father’s friend
Of silk and gold very subtly,
So carefully I made for him
Many little crosses and many stars
And sings this song to the cloth.”
